Wyre Forest is a local government district in Worcestershire, England, covering the towns of Kidderminster, Stourport-on-Severn and Bewdley. Its council is based in Stourport-on-Severn.

The district was formed under the Local Government Act 1972, on April 1, 1974, as a merger of Bewdley and Kidderminster municipal boroughs, Stourport-on-Severn Urban District Council and Kidderminster Rural District Council.

Cookley is a village  a few miles to the north of Kidderminster, and close to the villages of Kinver and Wolverley. It lies on the River Stour, and the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, and at the time of the 2001 census had a population of 2,491.[1]

Cookley is known for everybody knowing each other and having a very small village like atmosphere. Cookley has its own small butchers, post office and bakers all being family run.

The village cricket team, which was founded in 1869, is famous for winning the Haig Village Cricket Knockout Cup in 1977, beating Lindal Moor at Lord’s
